Managing tricky behavior in the classroom can be stressful for a teacher.. Getting students to show up, sit down, and pay attention in the classroom is not always easy. We often have students who "act out", won't stay seated, or are even aggressive towards other peers.
There are many factors that can lead to behavioral challenges in the classroom, including increased class size and staffing issues, the inclusion of special needs students in general classrooms, pandemic-related stressors, and an increase in mental health issues driven by conditions in the home such as food and housing insecurities, parent-related problems, and financial difficulties.
If we understand why behaviors occur, we can learn how to prevent behaviors.

Every child will at some point have a hard time with homework and face new challenges which they can´t handle alone. With ADHD, homework can become a long-lasting source of negative experiences, and most children who struggle with homework, struggle for specific reasons. Some are disorganized, some have a lower tolerance to frustration, and some rush… Luckily, there is a lot that can be done to make managing homework easier and less stressful.
In this webinar, we will identify different symptoms of ADHD, and how they manifest in school/homework settings affecting the way children study, interact with others, and perform in school. It is good to know your child´s strengths and areas in which they need extra support when it comes to schoolwork, to be able to determine which strategies are appropriate and which are not relevant.
How to create an inviting studying space? What if they want to do homework on the floor instead? Will music help? Maybe you´ve read somewhere that chewing gum helps focus? Can you give them chocolate treats as reward? You want to help, but they say they don´t know what´s for homework? How to make sure it´s not too much or too little? How can we make sure the children have actually brought their homework with them?
This webinar will answer these questions and more. We will talk about good practices at home that could help create a positive experience and modify children´s studying habits to fit their learning style. Considering that the homework experience starts already in school, we will also talk about ways teachers could provide additional support in this area.
Using examples, we will explore ideas on what parents and teachers can do (individually and together) to help children learn in ways that work for them. Helping your child learn in ways that don´t go against their brain can support and improve their understanding and retention, setting them up for academic success.
